Siwon and BoA say “Don’t call us slaves”
SM Entertainment has been taking heat regarding slave contracts. Super Junior Hangeng and DBSK members Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu have even gone as far as suing the company because they claimed to be under such a contract. A judge has recently judged in favor of Hangeng. SM Entertainment has even gone to fix all “slave contracts” to avoid the “slave contract label”.
Asia’s star, BoA, and Super Junior Siwon have both tweeted about accusations of being in a slave contract. Koreaboo reported a few days ago that Siwon was asked whether he was in a slave contract under SM Entertainment.
After reading said reports, Siwon said, “Again yesterday, the word ‘slave-contract’ climbed to the surface .. We ran hard towards the same dream with faith and trust. I want to continue to leap forward and I hope that this feeling of restriction & the thought of a slave-contract doesn’t surface again 🙂 “
News also reported that he “currently” didn’t have a problem with the current contract he was under. As a response, Siwon tweeted, “I couldn’t believe that words I never even spoke of would make the headline! “Currently?” That word never came out of my mouth 😦 “
Closing the discussion about the slave contracts, Siwon wrote, “Don’t call us slaves. All we want to do is to be a good pop culture icon!” He included a picture of a golden crown with the last tweet.
It doesn’t seem that Siwon is the only one who is thinking along the same line when it comes to slave contracts. Asia’s star, BoA, retweeted Siwon’s first tweet and said, “Principles!”. This indicated that she agreed with Siwon’s view and that they are not under any sort of slave contract.
Siwon seemed to want to get his point across and translated his tweets for his English speaking fans. The newest tweets are found at the top.
